Jorge Tellaeche

Creating a retro-futurist vocabulary emerges in his work as something fluid and intuitive, connecting Aztec, Mayan, and pre-Columbian references with the optimistic visual culture of 1950s robotics, when machines were imagined as friendly, helpful, and full of possibility. Yet, when observing the contemporary context, it is not always easy to reconcile that hopeful vision with the overwhelming and invasive presence technology has in our daily lives today.

Still, influenced by the formal irreverence of Memphis Design and grounded in meditation and introspection, Tellaeche finds it impossible to ignore the constant urge to take symbolic figures, emotional structures, and architectural fragments to build something new. Driven by this exploration, he develops a series of imagined temples, gates, and interior spaces:fluid architectures that mirror inner life and suggest paths toward clarity, empowerment, and renewal.

Visual languages that combine history, design, and spirituality are so everyday, so complex—yet so often underappreciated. For many, it is hard to value how architecture, art, and popular culture intertwine to shape objects and images capable of transforming a space.

This current stage of his practice seeks to awaken a sensitivity toward the protective and reflective dimension of the image. A residency in London represents a realm of endless possibilities, where the city’s historic density, its museums, and a conscious reflection on how and why we create will allow him to continue down an open-ended path to challenge, expand, and enrich his visual language.
