Viktor Torres
Viktor Torres (b. 1993) is a Mexican artist originally from Guadalajara, currently based in Mexico City. His practice is articulated primarily through painting as part of a visual investigation in constant displacement.
His work sits at the intersection between the painterly and the spatial, exploring the construction of images that transit between the domestic, the ornamental, and the affective. Through a recognizable yet non-fixed visual language, he develops bodies of work that avoid formal repetition to operate instead from variation, intuition, and procedural openness.
In recent years, his practice has oriented itself toward a reflection on the ways in which the everyday and the decorative shape contemporary imaginaries, incorporating references to landscapes, objects, and sensibilities linked to specific cultural contexts. In this sense, he maintains a sustained interest in developing a practice rooted in Mexico and the Latin American context as an active field of symbolic production, tension, and meaning.
His interest lies in generating visual structures that remain open to interpretation, understanding painting as an expanded field that dialogues with other formats and transformation.
